MEETING MARTI AMBASSADORS
Marmara Çok Programlı Anadolu Lisesi
As part of the MARTI Program, our co-founder Ela visited Marmara Island High School to connect with student ambassadors in person and continue building youth involvement around the future of the Marmara Sea.
During the visit, Ela met with students participating in the MARTI Program, creating an opportunity to strengthen relationships with young people already interested in marine conservation, community science, and local environmental action.
LEARNING BESIDE THE SEA
Water Testing and Biodiversity Learning
Together, they discussed the goals of the program, the importance of protecting the Marmara Sea, and the ways students could help expand the project within their school and wider community.
The visit also included hands-on learning through water testing and conversations about Marmara biodiversity. By exploring the health of the sea through direct observation and simple field activities, students were able to connect classroom learning with the ecosystem beside them.

For The Marmara Project, this visit represented one of the most important parts of our work: supporting young people as local ambassadors for the sea they live beside. Meeting the students in person helped turn the MARTI Program from an idea into a growing community of youth voices, curiosity, and action.

the Solution
The experience reminded us that conservation begins with connection. When students are given the chance to learn, ask questions, test the water, and see themselves as part of the solution, they become more than participants. They become caretakers of their own coastline.
