INVITED TO THE CONVERSATION

Bursa City Council Meeting

The Marmara Project was invited to attend a Bursa City Council meeting alongside nonprofit organizations, educators, and community representatives. The meeting created space for local groups to connect, share their concerns, and discuss the challenges affecting communities, nature, and the Marmara Sea.

As part of the meeting, Dahlia had the opportunity to speak directly with a local government representative about the growing crisis facing the Marmara Sea.

From Conversation to Conservation

The conversation became an important moment of advocacy for The Marmara Project. When asked what could be done, Dahlia introduced the project’s mission: using storytelling, community engagement, and education to reconnect people with the Marmara Sea and encourage local action.

For our team, the meeting highlighted the importance of bringing grassroots voices into municipal spaces. Protecting the Marmara Sea requires more than individual concern. It requires dialogue between communities, educators, civil society organizations, and local decision-makers.
